At Atlas Diver Center in Malapascua, we’re excited to launch a new marine conservation project aimed at preserving and improving our island’s unique ecosystem. Our mission is to create a positive impact both locally and globally, and we invite you to join us in this incredible journey.

SSI Ecology Specialty Courses

Discover the wonders of marine life with our SSI Ecology Specialty Courses and help us collect data to monitor the Malapascua sea life! Choose from Shark Ecology, Coral Identification, or Nudibranch Ecology and discover the amazing underwater world of these species here in Malapascua, gain a deeper understanding in just one day for Specialties.
By joining the specialty course, you will have access to a SSI course with a digital book available on the SSI app and providing detailed explanations about the topic. The course includes also a thorough briefing on the boat before the dives, along with fun and educational activities during the two/three training dives.
Not only will you enhance your diving skills, but you’ll also contribute to vital data collection for future monitoring and research efforts!! Indeed we will also give you an introduction to how data is collected underwater and how you can contribute to helping us. Then you will then have six months to complete the course and pass the online exam to earn your SSI certification.

Beach Clean-up

Every Tuesday (1 Hour)
Unfortunately, the island has a lot of trash that need to be collected. Don’t stay indifferent! Join us in protecting the environment we have the privilege to explore. Even if you’re here for just a few days, help us clean it up! We are all inhabitants of the same planet!
Join us every Tuesday at 5PM as we clean up our beaches and island.
Meet us at Villa Atlas Guest House, where we’ll provide trash bags and gloves, and explain how to properly sort waste!
At the end of the activity, we’ll all celebrate the great effort together with snacks and beer, offered as a thank you for your kind contribution!
Your participation helps protect marine life and ensures a healthier ocean for generations to come.

Blue Action Diving Internship
Php 29,000 (Per Week)
2 Weeks
Atlas Blue Action (ABA) is a newly launched project with a clear goal: to combine a passion for diving with a deep commitment to marine conservation. This internship is designed to enrich divers by providing knowledge on various aspects of marine ecology, while offering the opportunity to turn this experience into a potential career path.
If you are passionate about the ocean, love diving, and want to take an active role in marine conservation, this program is for you. It’s not just about exploring the underwater world—it’s about making a real difference. You’ll gain hands-on experience, participate in research and restoration projects, and contribute directly to the protection of marine ecosystems.

By participating at this two-week internship is a unique opportunity, you’ll:

What will you learn & do
Our Marine Conservation Internship provides hands-on experience in marine research, conservation techniques, and ecosystem restoration. Here’s what you will gain during the program:
✅ Take part in thresher shark data collection, with the unique opportunity to encounter them in the wild – Malapascua is the only place in the world where sightings happen almost every day.
✅ Obtain ecology certifications in Coral Identification, Shark Ecology, and Nudibranch Ecology. These courses combine study materials with practical fieldwork, allowing you to identify key species in Malapascua and collect scientific data to support future research.
✅ Conduct Marine Life Surveys – Learn how to identify local marine species and gather data to contribute to long-term monitoring and conservation efforts.
✅ Participate in Coral Reef Restoration – Gain foundational knowledge of reef rehabilitation and actively restore coral reefs at the Dakit-Dakit Marine Protected Area in collaboration with Tepanee Beach Resort. You will collect naturally broken coral fragments, reattach them using different techniques, and monitor their recovery through data collection.
✅ Engage in Beach & Underwater Cleanups – Help protect the ocean by participating in regular debris removal dives and coastal cleanups.
✅ Attend Conservation Seminars – Expand your knowledge with discussions on problem of plastic, marine protection, sustainable diving, and ecosystem management.
✅ Collaborate with the Local Community – Take part in outreach programs to educate and engage with locals about marine conservation.

What’s Included in the 2 Weekly Fee?
Joining our Marine Conservation Internship comes with a comprehensive package to ensure you have everything you need for an immersive and enriching experience. The weekly fee includes:
✅Shared Fan Dormitory Accommodation: stay in a comfortable Fan shared dormitory In Villa Atlas Guest House. Villa Atlas is a beautiful hostel with a very relaxing atmosphere, hammocks everywhere, scenic spots, and at the same time fun—with billiards, darts, movie nights, and live music! It’s also animal friendly and the location where we’ll hold the various seminars (If you wish to upgrade your accomodation, this is possible for an extra of 200php/day for Aircon Dormitory or extra 500php/day for private Fan Room (7 Aviable)
✅Breakfast&Lunch – provided in Villa Atlas, Thailand Restourant (vegan & vegetarian options) or in Atlasdivers boat.
✅Minimum of 8 Dives per Week – Participate in conservation-focused dives while exploring the incredible marine biodiversity. You will have the opportunity during the internship to explore the most beautiful and famous dive sites around Malapascua, such as Monad Shoal, Kimud Shoal, Gato Island, and all the stunning dives around the island! Thresher sharks, tiger sharks, white-tip sharks, seahorses, frogfish, rays — these are just some of the many encounters you can experience during the course! you will also dive in the MPA to work on the coral garden.
✅Full Diving Equipment (Except Dive Computer) – We provide all the necessary gear for your dives, except for a personal dive computer. You will have access to excellent equipment throughout the entire duration, new or lightly used, from top brands.
✅Unlimited Boat Use – Access to our dive boat for all scheduled trips and conservation activities. All enviromental fees and entrance to marine sanctuaries during field excursions are included as well.
✅Free Atlas T-Shirt – A special souvenir to remember your experience.
✅Final Certification – Earn an official certification upon successful completion of the internship.

Participation Requirements
To join our Marine Conservation Internship, you must meet the following requirements:
✅Minimum Age: 18 Years Old – Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
✅Minimum Certification Level: Advanced Open Water Diver – A valid scuba diving certification (minimum Advanced Open Water or equivalent) is required.
👉 Not certified yet? No problem! If you don’t meet the certification requirement, you can complete your SSI courses with us before starting the internship: Open Water Course (2/3 days) & Advanced Open Water Course (2 more days). As an intern, you’ll receive a 10% discount on both courses!
✅Good Physical Condition – You should be in good health and comfortable in the water. A medical clearance may be required in some cases.
✅Passion for Marine Conservation – A strong interest in ocean protection and conservation efforts.
✅Ability to Work in a Team – Willingness to collaborate with fellow interns and staff in a shared learning environment.
✅ Basic English Skills – The program is conducted in English, so a basic understanding is necessary to follow briefings and participate effectively.

Long-term Stays & Thesis Projects
Would you like to join our marine conservation project for more than two weeks? Are you a university student looking for an inspiring location to carry out your thesis project?
We’re happy to welcome participants for extended stays and long-term academic collaborations. Whether you’re passionate about sharks, coral reefs, data collection, or marine ecology in general, we can design a program tailored to your interests, goals, and background. You’ll have the chance to take part in real fieldwork, contribute to meaningful ocean conservation, and become part of our dedicated dive community in Malapascua.
